Clara Gunge

Clara Gunge is a danish lyric soprano based in Stockholm, Sweden. She is graduating in the spring of 2023 from the opera academy, Stockholm University of the Arts, finishing the education by singing the title role of Massenet's Cendrillon at Folkoperan in Stockholm. Earlier studies includes a bachelors degree from The Royal Academy of music Aarhus. 

 

In the Autumn of 2022, she made her debut at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm as Annina in Verdis La Traviata as part of her internship. In the summer of 2022 she made her debut as Pamina in a production by Suitcase Opera in Umeå, and this summer 2023 she will revisit the role in a full scale production of Die Zauberflöte with Lyrical Opera Studio Weimar in Germany. 

Clara loves italian romantic repertoire and verismo and has studied both Puccinis and Leoncavallos Mimí during her time in Stockholm. 
She also takes an interest in the lied genre and enjoys managing her own themed projects and concerts, such as living room concerts Schubertiader, "cake-concerts" and more. She also likes singing new as well as odd music, and is currently researching for music from all times, exclusively written by female composers - some of which she will be singing at a concert at Herning Opera Festival 2023. 

Scholarships include among others Helle og Arenth Jacobsens legat for unge kunstnere and Lisbeth Håkanssons stipendium.
